This we know, the Earth does not belong to us and we belong to the Earth. Man did not weave the Web of Life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the Web, he does to himself."

IDEOLOGY

Barr Mansion & Artisan Ballroom is a celebration of the Earth. We strive to be more than just a pretty place, but one that offers a meaningful, mindful experience. Our ideology and momentum rests on creating superior events while being cognitive of the size of the ecological footprint created in the process. Our philosophy on living is tightly woven into each thread of our business. Being aware of our choices and the power of those choices drives every decision we make.

We do what we can today and are prepared to make more changes as alternatives become available. We constantly ask questions, and we keep adapting. We garden organically. We recycle everything we can. We compost all our kitchen scraps. We use 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper. We use organically grown flowers in all our arrangements. Our food service is certified organic by Orgeon Tilth and the USDA. We are members of the Green Restaurant Association and take at least three environmental action steps each year. We cool and heat our building with geothermal power. The Mansion has a 75-year concrete roof and the ballroom has a 75-year thatched roof.
We also think it is very important to actively support our community. Local artists are carefully chosen, from our buffet platters by local glass makers to produce from local farms. We donate our facilities to local groups who are committed to making the world a sustainable place. We are achieving something special in providing amazing events, with minimal impact on our environment, and great benefit to local and sustainable businesses. We are constantly learning and always enjoying our job!

Our vision is to provide a community center that is ecologically advanced, energy efficient, consciously designed, and sustainable. We hope to provide a setting for people to come together and interact in a surrounding that will foster awareness and cultivate community among people interested in working to improve our world.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration of our venue. Our hope is that the result will be to awaken your spirit and allow you to create your celebration with hope, wisdom, and promise in your life.
